KUALA LUMPUR, 26 September 2025 — Billplz won the Digital Innovation & Scalability Award at the IMT-GT Business Excellence Awards in Kuala Lumpur. The Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle Joint Business Council recognised the 30-person Malaysian fintech among companies across three countries.
After 13 years focused exclusively on Malaysian payment infrastructure, the award reflects how depth of market understanding can be as impactful as breadth of regional expansion. Billplz processes over MYR 4 billion annually for Malaysian businesses through infrastructure built specifically for local workflows, regulations, and payment preferences.
What the IMT-GT Business Excellence Awards recognise
The Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle represents 85 million people across 35 provinces and states. The 2025 awards recognised businesses demonstrating regional economic contribution through innovation, operational scalability, and measurable environmental impact. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof emphasised at the September 2025 gala:
Under ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, Malaysia emphasizes an inclusive and sustainability agenda aligned with IMT-GT Vision 2036 goals focusing on interconnectivity, trade facilitation, digitalization, and sustainable development.
The award validates Billplz’s Malaysia-first approach to fintech development. While many payment platforms expand across multiple markets simultaneously, Billplz has spent over a decade building infrastructure for one: Malaysia.

How Malaysia-first focus won regional recognition
Billplz operates with 30 people focused on one market. This concentration allows deep integration with Malaysian business infrastructure — understanding FPX adoption patterns, navigating Bank Negara Malaysia requirements, building features around Malaysian tax workflows, and optimising for local internet infrastructure.
The platform supports every payment method Malaysian customers use: FPX, DuitNow, cards, e-wallets, and buy now pay later. All systems maintain certification from PayNet and Bank Negara Malaysia.
Infrastructure used daily by Malaysian businesses
Malaysian businesses now move over MYR 4 billion annually through Billplz's platform. The infrastructure processes transactions for businesses ranging from individual entrepreneurs to large enterprises. The team operates from Selangor, built around understanding Malaysian market dynamics.
The award recognizes thirteen years of work, but the Malaysia-first approach continues evolving. DuitNow QR adoption is accelerating among SMEs. E-wallet preferences shift with each generation. Payment infrastructure built for Malaysian businesses still has room to deepen.
The IMT-GT award confirms this: fintech built for Malaysians can set regional benchmarks.
